It wasn’t a super hero practicing his rappelling skills on the Mahanay Bell Tower last Tuesday, but only a window cleaner working on the outside windows of the tower’s observation deck.
This was the third time Crystal Clear Window Cleaning of Ames has been up the tower. The last time was April of 2013. The county is obliged to cover maintenance costs of the tower, including the $770 bill for window cleaning.
The bell tower is open Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 4 pm through Oct. 26. Persons “of an age” know that “on a clear day, on that clear, clear day, you can see forever,” particularly if you’re at the top of the bell tower.
